Get involved in the Community > Interfaith Hospitality Network of Ocean County

Interfaith Hospitality Network of Ocean County, part of the national network Family Promise, seeks to assist families in transition with temporary safe and comfortable shelter and hot dinners in churches until they can find affordable permanent housing. Four times a year, St. Mary’s offers one week of housing and hospitality to IHN families. Many compassionate members of our congregation furnish breakfast and lunch items, dinners and fellowship, supplies and overnight hospitality to our guests. Host congregations extend a safe, peaceful and welcoming atmosphere for guests in the program. The Interfaith Hospitality Network also provides financial, career, individual and family counseling through professional volunteers.

St Mary's will again host three IHN families during the week of March 7th. Please contact me, Patti, ( or if you can help or would like to know more about this amazing Ministry.
I think the following "thank you" letter explains the impact of our efforts to share some love.

Dear Patti,

We have all been facing the dark struggles of a pandemic year, however, you were a light in the darkness. We thank you and the congregants of St. Mary’s by the Sea for your heartfelt generosity for the families of Interfaith. You not only provided a holiday for Imani and Michael but it was a powerful affirmation of hope for the family. You have made a lasting impact their on the lives.

During the year, the gift of your time and talents helps to further our mission to aid families facing homelessness in Ocean County. In 2019, IHNOC provided 2,662 overnight accommodations and 7,986 meals to 47 people consisting of 20 adults and 27 children. Our work can’t be done with out people like you and for that we are eternally grateful.

Again, thank you for your dedication and all you do for our Interfaith families not only through the Holiday Gift Giving Program but throughout the year! It is only with the help of caring people, such as you, that we can continue to provide such vital services to children and their families facing homelessness.
